Panny BM - Urgent!!!!!

Options
Hi All

I tried to make a wholemeal loaf in my bm a few weeks ago, it included honey - not from the bm recipe book, but after the three hours (it recommended rapid) the bread was an unholy mess. Not mixed properly atall.

OK now I am trying again and my panny seems to be struggling to mix the dough. Do you think there is a fault with my bm or is it this recipe. I dont know whether to stop the programme and chuck the dough. I dont want to break the bread maker. Never had probs before. Answers as quick as poss please!!!!!!

Have you compared the recipie to any in the panni book? Try comparing to a similar quantity flour loaf and see wheather it includes enough water. I can't see why honey would make that much difference - but I'm no expert.

  • Hi,

I find the recipe in the Panasonic 253 book for wholemeal is spot on.

400 gm Wholemeal flour (I use Carrs breadmaker)
    300 ml water
    1 tsp yeast,
    1 tsp sugar
    1 tsp salt,
knob of butter (sorry, I don't weigh it)
    1 tbs skimmed milk powder

Medium sized loaf, and 5 hr cycle. (from memory - please don't quote me!)

When I remember I also use a small amount of vit C, but I cannot see it makes a difference.

Sounds like your mix was a bit dry, if it struggled to get it mixed? Maybe worth checking during the kneading process to see what is going on?

    Hope you get it sorted,

    Regards,

White thanks for the reply. I think it is the liquid that is the problem. This recipe only states 225 mls for 500g of flour!! That is probably why the motor was struggling. Anyway have got the rolls baking but they look a tad on the heavy side!! Hope the birds will eat them:D
