Flat Feet

Hi

I've been having problems with my feet for a while now and I've just found out I've got flat feet!

Can any one advise me on any good shoes to wear, ideally something black that could be worn at work as I'm always running about at work!

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the Flat Footed Club!:D

Have you been to see a GP about this? Often they will refer you to have some orthotic insoles made to support your arches. If you put these in your shoes, you'll have a little more freedom with styles. Usually flats are the best with orthotics as the insole has very little flexibility so is not suited to heels.

In the mean time, try Birkenstocks. I've found them fantastic for my flat feet, so much so, I can't wear any other shoes for very long anymore.

They come in a variety of styles, not just sandals. If you specificaly want shoes, try their Footprints range. A little more expensive, but with all the comfort of Birkenstock in a traditional 'shoe'.

    HTH:)
  • Yes you really should get some proper advice from either a doctor or preferably a podiatrist. Fair enough it costs probably about £40 for an appointment if you go private but it's well worth it, especially to help you identify whether you might end up with other problems coming from your feet (eg dodgy knees or hips). It's also worth keeping an eye on your weight if you don't already - more weight over problematic feet is bad news.

I agree with missingink, orthotics are probably the way to go for you. In terms of shoes with built in support, Ecco are also worth trying.

You're right to do something about it before you develop any further problems. Hope you get it sorted.
  • Hey
Well.....had a sore foot since January time and been to Dr about it who said it was build up of hard skin (even though smooth) then a verucca!! then eventually they reffered me to chiropodist...but not had appointment through and in agony so managed to see one privately who has daignosed me with flat feet. shes dropped off some flexsoul things which are helping but if still sore in a month or so I've to call her back.
I have birkenstocks for the summer but its not the warmest for them just now!
COuld do with some black flat shoes for work that look smart with trousers any help?!
    THanks so far
