how to get address claer of debt record

My daughter currently rents a flat in Luton with her partner.
He applied recently for a loan and was turned down as apparently the " address has a bad history and was previously rented by fraudsters" can they do anything about this ? When they opened mail addressed to the occupier they have discovered that the debt recovery company was sending bailiffs. They acted promptly and phoned to prevent this , but it is worrying for them.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jonty

Nothing you can do. Its data either on or shared by the banks system to prevent loss.

Credit history is tied to a name and address. So generally previous owners debts will have no affect.

Although where large sections of fraud has occurred, then it is possible for addresses to be flagged up. Entire postcodes in london are affected by this. Reading the MSE guide on credit may provide some assistance in how credit/fraud works. You may wish to give places like GAIN, CIFAS, National Hunter, credit agencies etc a call to see if they can help amend records. - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/credit-rating-credit-score

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
