Who's used Megabus?

I'm seriously considering using megabus to get to Bolton and back in October (£6.50 return rather than £35 on the train with my 16-25 railcard!) Just wanted to know who's used them and how reliable they are?

I've used them several times because the train was far too expensive due to not buying advance tickets in time. Make sure you get there at least 15 mins before departure and you shouldn't have any problems. I've been on a couple of journeys that got in about half an hour late but this was mainly due to roadworks. How long is your journey though? Mine was about 3.5 hours and this is the very most I'd ever want to spend on any type of bus. I hate buses though!
  • lets just say at least on the train you can get up and walk away from the weirdo/smeller/crying baby sitting next to you

Well that depends how busy the train is! I'm with you though, if cost was no issue I'd choose the train any day.

It's going to be about 5 hours on the bus which I really don't mind. I've done 8 hours in a car before with 1 stop so this should be fine!

Dont underestimate just how uncomfortable bus seats are! I'd take 8 hours in a car over 5 on the bus any day ;)

To be honest, I'm that desperate to save money that I can put up with pretty much anything

Don't do it, honestly, you'll regret it, it is worse than you can possibly imagine...

    ...Anyhows, enough about Bolton...

Never had a problem with Megabus, so happily use it to get you to another destination :D
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Well there isn't a cheaper way to travel long distances on public transport. I got to Glasgow and back several times for £2.50 before they bought out the competition (Citylink). Not often you see sub £10 fares these days.
