Brabantia bin 30 litre touch - best place to buy?

Hi,
am after a Brabantia touch 30 litre bin like this one
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Brabantia-Touch-Matt-Steel-Litre/dp/B00026LJI4/ref=sr_1_2/277-6611466-9975607?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1281521715&sr=1-2
was just wondering if anyone knew where the best / cheapest place to get one was?
Has to be matt steel finish and touch top but would also go for a 50 litre if it was cheaper or not much different in price.
Many thanks in anticipation of your suggestions.

Hi SillyWilly,
I'm sorry I can't be much help as we've been looking for a cheaper one too! I did notice a few months back that a Morrisons we went into had them at £15 (apparently Brabantia, though this is rediculously cheap!) but we didn't buy because they only had 1 black one left which was broken because of too many sticky fingers pressing it! So that's a bit hit & miss.. Argos sell them for about £80, but they have an own-brand version, 30L, at £30 (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8423524/Trail/searchtext%3ETOUCH+TOP+BIN.htm) This has good reviews so it may be worth taking a look, it's in the new catalogue in different colours

Shame you insist upon matt, as the glossy steel one is £40 on Tesco Direct

Matt one going on eBay, brand new for £49.99 + £11.99 shipping (£61.98 combined):

A cautionary note.
I have a Brabantia touch bin, which cost a fortune a decade ago. The touch mechanism failed within a fortnight. Brabantia first replaced the 'clicker', which also failed, and then provided a complete new lid, which failed within a fortnight. Eventually, they refunded me for the full price of the bin. We are a two adult no children household, and it wasn't 'abused' in any way, I just think the design is very poor.
My husband then drilled a small hole in the lid and fixed a cupboard doorknob to it, and we are still using it 'manually' 10 years later, to the amusement of all our friends & family.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
I bought one in Dunelm mill a few days ago. They had black or stainless steel for £25. It's probably not as good quality as that one but it does the job. They had a bigger selection of more expensive bins in there also but the one I bought was on a display at the front of the store.
This is the Brabantia.

I'm very pleased with this one.

Many thanks for all your replies.
Yes it does have to be the matt / brushed steel as the polished ones show too many finger marks. Also matches our kitchen sockets.
Also has to be a Brabantia - have had the own brand bins before and they always fail.
At least with Brabantia you get a 10 year guarantee and their CS is supposed to be pretty good.
Buying one off Ebay - do you reckon that the guarantee would still be valid? Only thing that puts me off.
Have to admit that I am loathe to spend £75 for a bin but the OH insists. If it lasts for 10 years it's only £7.5 a year - we probably spend more than that on bin bags!!
Cheers for all your help.0 -
