PC died last week. Had it looked at and motherboard is fried. Managed to salvage hard drive, so now, it's just a case of getting a new pc.
Have been advised to get a quad processor so it will last.. I do have light scribe in broken tower, which would be useful but can always swap across if needed.
We don't need mega graphics for gaming or anything, just a decent deal.
Have looked on flea bay, but I don't want second hand as want a warrenty..
Budget is about £300..
Any help or advice gratefully recieved

I'd be very surprised if you can find a quad for that price. There are refurbished pcs knocking around for 300 or so quid. These will come with a warranty but they are usually customer returns. And you can get pcs without an operating system but I'm going to assume you'll want one.
The nearest I can find to your budget is this Zoostorm for £350 delivered from Ebuyer.

If its just the motherboard that's fried don't you go for a m/b + cpu bundle. You'll get more bang for your bucks if you can re-use most of your current parts. Just found this site http://motherboardbundle.co.uk/category-quad-core-motherboard-bundle.html. Never used it, so am making no recommendations but the prices look fair enough.0
