santander&debt collectors...still not transferred?

hello all,i would like some advice. about 4 years ago we took out a loan with alliance and leicester for £4000-in january they were bought out by Santander, who now deal with the debt.we managed the repayments until we realised that we were using credit cards to buy essential items every month and so we got a dmp with cccs.
after a while we realised that we could not manage the payments on the dmp and so ended the contract.i have been dealing with them myself from this date.We have received 2 defaults from Santander, but ar epaying £30 a month. The debt is now £1782. 6 months ago I contacted them and they said that the debt was being transferred to debt collectors and that we will be hearing from them shortly.We have heard nothing.I call them every month to make a payment and they say that it is still processing.....can anyone shed any light on this please?
When I make the payment every month it sometimes appears on my account as a payment to wescot credit services.I am a bit in limbo and dont know whats going on as they are not telling me anything!
