More help with PPI please!
Trying to cancel PPI on Barclays Loans and tried sending a letter as advised re misselling of PPI. I'm self employed and was urged to take it out but didn't realise that at the time that I wouldn't be able to claim anyway. Already had insurance for accidents etc. Want to cancel rest of PPI on existing loans and tried to claim back PPI already paid (about 3 and half yrs worth). Bank sent letter yesterday saying that it wasn't mis selling and referring me back to terms and conditions I signed in my credit agreement including a summary of cover and said I should have cancelled in 30 days. It said unemployment is defined as "ur self employed and made bankrupt or your business has to stop trading because of insolvency". If that had happened I wouldn't have been paying loan off as I have no assets anyway! It enclosed an options letter to sign to cancel the insurance for the remaining term and issue new agreements BUT it didn't tell me how much I owe still and says cancellation will close existing loan and remaining terms may be affected which may result in INCREASE to nearest 6 months and APR may increase. They sent me another loan application form instead but didn't say how much to borrow. Has anyone experienced this? I know I need to ask Barclays how much I owe to compare. This is crazy as they are asking me to borrow more money and will I end up paying more and for longer? I still have about 19 months more payments to make and desperately need to get out of this PPI so what's my next move?
