REALLY smudge-proof mascara ?

I really struggle with mascara. With 1 exception, all the ones that claim to be smudge-proof fail the test for me, leaving me looking like a Panda by the end of the working day.

The one exception is Kanebo 38 degrees mascara, which is fab. BUT is only available in the UK from Harrods, who want £5.95 to post me a £17 mascara 5.gif.

As this is the only mascara I have used in the last 8 years, I thought I'd ask you guys if there is another product I don't know about, before I invest.

Cheers

In 25 years of smudgy panda eyes I never found a mascara that stayed put. Then last year I saw an article about "Blinc" mascara. Only available online and is unique in that it coats the eyelashes in tubes of stuff that NEVER smudges, not even a little bit, not even if you sob your heart out and rub your eyes afterwards. Totally brilliant. It's pricey at £18 for a tube but they send you a free tester before you buy so you know what you're getting and you'll never buy anything else.
    - I realise I sound a bit OTT but I work night shifts etc on hospital wards that have never heard of air conditioning and the smudging was driving me mad - this tiny little product has helped my confidence loads (daft really :o)
  • I have the same problem, ive tried many many mascara's over the years and never found one that quite does it. Brought estee lauder waterproof mascara last month and have to say its one of the worst ive ever tried, very drying, clumpy etc. ive now brought Max Factor falsh lash effect waterproof and so far so good, you do get a small amount of smudging but its not the panda eye most give you.

Also i think eye cream has something to do with the smuddging effect but i cant give that up.
My mind tends to wander............If found please return;)

    I can spell...................I just cant type:confused:

I've tried the Blinc one and didnt like it, it didnt smudge but came off in bits throughout the day:( DD tried it swimming and had the same story and it done nothing at all for my lashes in fact I thought it made them look short:eek:I would suggest trying a mascara sealant over whichever product you choose/like, Clarins do one especially for this job which has great reviews and Benefit do a product called SheLaq which can be used to seal mascara, eyeshadow, groom eyebrows etc - hth:) Although I would be inclined to say if you have found a product that you are very happy with it would be worth paying the money (and delivery) for it - sorry MSE;)

  • Blinc!
I use it on all my brides and mums, and it doesn't smudge at all.
Surprised to hear about it coming off in bits throughout the day; had you used an oily eyemakeup remover before application?

No I didnt and I gave it a couple of goes, I had the sample size, its possible I used too much to try and get a bit of oomph out of it and it flaked but dd didnt and she looked a mess at swimming and she was trying to impress a new boyfriend:rotfl:fortunatly she saw the funny side but I really couldnt recommend this product to anyone and its not cheap either.

I use Avon Super Shock mascara at the moment and I can vouch 100% that it doesn't smudge or run. It got me through a day of intense crying without a streak, even when I was rubbing and dabbing my eyes. :o

The only downside is that it is difficult to remove, I think. It doesn't come off with my normal facewash and I have to use either wipes or an eye make up remover.
  • Boots Natural Collection Waterproof worked fine for me, during a trip to Turkey when I got hot and sweaty doing volunteer work and swam in the ocean etc.ect.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

  • Hi all

the only one I can wear that I feel is really 100% waterproof and also does not go all clumpy is an Avon one - perfect wear I think it's called. It's normally £8 but I always stock up when they do the 2 for £8 offers. I bough a mabelline waterproof one recently - just to try out - an it was really awful - really smudgy and clumpy- so a complete waste of money!
