Advice - Do I have to declare job

Very long story cut short:

My family moved from England to Scotland for new life. Had a good job when down in england so worked my notice and moved. Started job as soon as got there which really didnt work out. I was there for 3 weeks and only did about 5 shifts as off sick. I have got another job lined up hopefully but just trying to sort out occupational health side of things as on top of everything else my back has now gone.

I am now looking round incase the other jobs falls through. Do I have to declare the job that I went to do for 3 weeks on CV's etc. or can I just pretend it never happened and say that I moved and am now looking for employment?

Hopefully I will get through the occupational health check with the job I have lined up but dont want to tell them about the sickess record in the last 3 weeks with the employer that didnt work out.

Does this make sense?

Pretend it never happened. People have "lost" years of employment and I'm sure many of us here have had jobs for a couple of weeks that never make it onto future CVs.

One important thing: DECLARE THE BACK ISSUE. I have 3 knacked discs in my lower back. I've declared them on all applications. For a couple of job applications, the company said that there was work involved which would make it worse and when discussed further, it was the fact that the place they loaded artic trailers was open with no shelter and very windy so closing the side curtains wouldn't be good for me - something I'd not even considered but agreed with. At one job, I had to sign a disclaimer saying I wouldn't sue them if it got worse and I wasn't to do anything outside my job description (night trunk driver for parcel company - no lifting required but depots would try it on). In short, declaring it has caused me no problems but saved me having some.
  • Thanks for the adivce. Spoke to new employer and they are still taking me on but recommend a manual handling course to try to protect my back. Things are looking a but better!
