  • Been to Mr T's and actually came in within budget at £29 - my budget was £40 but I'd hoped to spend £30 as I had some clubcard vouchers.
    Quite pleased with myself.:j

    A new reader! Thank you!
It always amazes me that someone else reads this!

Nothing much has happened this week, just work and general life.
I have tried to be good and have taken lunch every day to work, put petrol in using a 5p off voucher before it runs out and not been out apart from to rejoin Slmming World. It cost £9.95 for the joining fee and first weeks subs but it does work for me so I see it as an investment!

I still have £5 in my purse leftover from the £20 I took out on Sunday so quite pleased with that.
I'll take out £20 from the cashpoint tomorrow for the weekend and hopefully some of the week to come. I'm still trying to save £100 this month so am trying to be good - 2 weeks to payday though!

I must write a new meal plan and shopping list for next week tonight - shopping day tomorrow (or Sunday if I can convince OH I don't need to go tomorrow). It'll take longer than normal because of the new diet but I'm not very busy and can hopefully sort it out.

I have mum's dog staying with me for a week and he's like having an extra mouth to feed but he's keeping my dog company so its all good.

Famous last words - the window cleaner came and took my last fiver - boo!

Had a productive day so far - been to Mr T's, cleaned the whole house, walked the dogs twice, had a bath, done 2 loads of washing.....the list goes on.

    Spent £45.50 on the grocery shopping - 50p over the £45 budget:o
Due to SW my trolley was full of fruit, veg and dairy - all expensive stuff - and not a lot else. At least I wasn't wildly over budget and didn't go "off list".

I had a letter today saying that I may have overpaid national insurance in 2004/2005 and to fill in a form for a refund - quite surprised as its completely out of the blue and may be a nice little cheque? Knowing my luck I'll get about 45p back :rotfl::rotfl:

Took £30 out of the cashpoint to hopefully last until Friday. We're going out as a department on Friday night for a meal and drinks - have budgeted £40 but don't really know how much it will cost - will try googling the restaurant later.

Right the rugby is starting so off to watch the Welsh beat the Italians.......(hopefully)
  • Well, I googled the restaurant for Friday and it looks very posh:eek: Apparently, if you're a mover and shaker in Manchester its the place to be (think Corrie stars and footballers). Just a main course for me then! I am on a diet so can use that as an excuse;)

Its absolutely lashing it down in Manchester:(
Just back from taking the dogs out and they're both soaking wet and filthy, just had to rehoover downstairs to get rid of all the bits they brought back with them.
Both dogs sulking now because they're wet.:rotfl::rotfl:

Not a lot planned for today....
    • Write 4 lessons for school
    • Write a revision exercise for school
    • Make tea nice using fresh stuff up from the fridge
    • Watch rugby this afternoon
    • Try to find something to wear on Friday night so I don't have to buy something new - its a dressing up job
    • Wash kitchen floor
    • Walk dogs again - hopefully it'll stop raining at some point
    • Do a load of washing if the stuff washed yesterday ever dries
    • Maybe do some marking (not urgent)
I will also revisit the budget for this month - there's 2 weeks left until payday and I really need to stretch the money as far as possible to be able to save some.

    Just a quickie....

Went out last night with the dept from school to the swanky restaurant in Manchester and although it was nice it cost a bomb!
I had some of the cheapest things on the menu (it helps being a veggie sometimes!) and just 1 drink and my bit of the bill came to £40! The total bill for 9 people was £500:eek::eek:

Then there was the taxi home - another £15 - but it could have been worse as I shared one with a colleague.
So I'm staying in tonight! I had budgted £40 for the whole thing so not a happy bunny and the food was nice but not THAT nice!

Anyway, more spending on the horizon today - the dog needs his hair cut - another £25:(

    So today's list is...
    • Walk dogs
    • Do a shopping list and go to Mr T's (have a £3 off voucher)
    • Take dog for haircut
    • Phone hairdressers for appt for me for next weekend
    • Clean house - like a bomb has dropped, 2 dogs definitely makes it messier!
    • At least 2 loads of washing
    • Maybe an hour of school work
    • Look at budgets again - poorer than anticipated now:o
    • Maybe have a sleep later - am shattered
Right the dogs need walking so I'd better be off or I'll have little puddles to contend with!

    Food shopping report.....

£43 in Mr T's and £7 in the greengrocers - so a fiver over the budget of £45.:(

Slightly better news - the dogs haircut was £20 not £25 -but he does look like a skinned rabbit bless him!

Going to go through the finances in a minute but I think that I have £85 to last me to payday in a week's time. That has to include £40 ish for food shopping next weekend and maybe another £20 cash to spend. I have £14 in my purse and am meeting mum to give her the dog back tomorrow so will need petrol money - she sometimes gives me this but I don't want to presume.

I was hoping to save some cash this month but its looking very unlikely now:(

Just looked at where next month's wages need to go...

    Outgoings (on top of DDs):-
    Hair £50
    4 weeks food shopping £180
    Petrol £40
    Total = £270

Left over cash after DDs and the above = £490

    Extras to pay for

    Cash £40 x4 = £160
    Mam’s anni - £10
    Mothers Day present 3rd April - £25
Trip to Wales - £50 petrol
Extra for Mothers day - £30

    Total = £275

    Left over £490 - £275 = £215

So in theory that leaves £215 left for savings - seems too good to be true? I'm sure I've forgotten somethng but don't know what it is:o
I'm on school holidays for two of the weeks of the pay month too - we have early Easter holidays and plan to visit mum in Wales for Mother's Day, so thats an extra load of cash for petrol, present and probably lunch out if mum fancies it. It will be the first Mothers day since her mum died so I really should be there.
Will have a think to see if I've forgotten something.........
