I cant BT Next Directory acc

Hi

My M&S &More card came today hurrah !!

Ive bt'd my Virgin balance onto it but they wont bt my next directory account balance as its not a credit card, it needs to have the card number start with 6 but my customer number starts with UR.

I thought I would be able to bt my next account.

Has anyone else had this problem ?

yes, many credit cards will only allow BT from credit cards and not store cards / loans etc.

if your credit record is ok then apply for an EGG MONEY credit card (not any EGG card but an EGG MONEY card). this is a useful card because it allows positive balances (even pay 4% interest ) but more important for you is that you can transfer money into you bank account)

so it would work like this
a. get EGG MONEY card
b. BT from egg to m&s lets say £2000, so now eggmoney has a positive balance of 2000, and m&s has a negative balance of 2000
c. then BT from EGGMONEY and your bank a/c so egg balance is now zero and you bank a/c has 2000 in it.
d. use the bank a/c to pay off the store card .
a bit long winded but it works.

I think I might phoen up next and see if i can pay the balance over the phone using my M&S card. I think that will be easier.

I cant pay it off as purchases on the M&S card are 16% apr !!

My limit was 2k, at least ive managed to transfer the Virgin account onto it at 0%

Can you get credit card cheques with it?

I have no idea, I cant remember reading it in the info leaflet.

I have a mint card at 0% on BT's and purchases, what if I BT 400 off the Mint onto the M&S then go into Next and use my Mint card to pay off the balance ?

That should work - I think you can use Mint for BTs into accounts other than CCs.

Ive bt'd £400 off MINT onto M&S, once that goes through I can pay off the NEXt acc online !

All my debt is now at 0%

I also have an application form to work part time at Boots !!!

I only wish I knew how to do my 'sig' at the bottom!

go to top of page and click on 'user cp' then on 'edit signature'

and well done on solving your problem, but consider getting an EGG money card in future...once you have it, it can be very flexible for this sort of thing.
