Have googled but keep coming up with coconut in the recipe
My eldest made them at an after school club last night, and they were to die for :drool: I simply cannot wait till next week to get the recipe:o They were lovely melt in your mouth .... erm ... lumps
I have been told that the ingredients are as follows:
Butter
Flour
Brown Sugar
Sugar Strands
Eggs
don't know the type of flour to use, of quantities for the ingredients
Can anyone help!!

Haven't come across these as such but it sounds like a variant of rock cakes/buns.0

This is the closest I could find that matches your ingredients list.
"Magic moon rocks (this is a real recipe)
INGREDIENTS
2oz self raising flour
1oz butter or margarine
125g hundreds and thousands sugar strands
1 egg
METHOD
1. put flour into a large bowl and rub in butter
2. put in the egg and mix with a fork
3. add in the sugar strands and mix
4. squish them into rough balls and put them on a well-greased baking tin
5. put them in an oven preset to 200 degrees C for 15-20 mins

There is a recipe on the Cbeebies website (Big Cook Little Cook !)...... no mention of sugar strands though, so may not be right one but it still looks good

just found this one and it mentions sugar strands so think I will be trying this myself!
Class 11 - Age 5-7 Years
Moon Rocks (makes 8-12)
[FONT=Times New Roman,Times New Roman]Ingredients [/FONT][FONT=Times New Roman,Times New Roman]
250g Self raising flour
90g soft brown sugar
90g butter
125g raisins
½ teaspoon mixed spice
Method
- Preheat oven to 200ºC / 400ºF / Gas mark 6 and grease a baking tray[/FONT][FONT=Times New Roman,Times New Roman]
- [/FONT][FONT=Times New Roman,Times New Roman]Rub the butter into the flour until it resembles fine breadcrumbs then add mix well
- Beat the egg and add to the flour mixture. Mix in with a fork until it starts
- Put your hands (clean) into the bowl and collect all the bits together
- Form rocky heaps and place on the baking tray
- Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown and then leave on a rack to cool[/FONT]

I have a recipe for moon rocks in one of my kids cookery books, they are basic rock cakes with added sugar strands, adding chocolate drops instead is also a great recipe.0
