    Can you or your partner increase your income? More hours at work? A part time job in a bar one night a week for a few months whilst the other one of you looks after the kids?

    Has your husband tried speaking to his HR department at John Lewis? They may be able to help him get the interest at a better rate as he is staff, and in financial difficulties. I thought they were supposed to treat their staff well, it may be worth seeing if anyone there can help him. Your income looks very low, have you checked that you are receiving all the benefits that you are entitled to?
