Not sure OH has got the hang of DFW ways yet!

He went off to do weekly shop this morning.

Now DD has been a bed wetter for quite some time so we have been using Dry-Nites. However she has now been dry for the last 10 nights so I said we needn't buy anymore at the end of this packet (3-4 remaining).

However, reading the till receipt noticed OH had bought a new packet. When asked why he said "But I had a £1 off voucher, so thought I should use it"

Ok, so spent £4.94 to use a £1 token? On a product we hopefully don't need any more.

  • Sounds like the sort of thing mine would do. You could probably flog them on eBay if you don't get round to using them!

  • Or take them back to the shop for a refund? I did this with a packet of the wrong lightbulbs last week. No questions asked, although I was prepared with the Muppet Defence if confronted.

  • my OH, god love him, is banned from coming food shopping with me because it always ends up costing at least £40 more!! 'ooh shall we just try that', 'mm this looks nice, come on it's only £1.26' - you know the drill. My daughter is far better behaved - one magazine and she's happy!

i love the phase 'the muppet defence' - going to have to try and use it in conversation this week :rotfl:
chocaholic110 - it may be annoying that OH bought it, but in 'glass half full' approach, at least he used a voucher and didn't just buy it for the sake of it! you have something to work with there ;)

Well, his heart's obviously in the right place :p - he means well...just needs a little bit more fine tuning on the finer points of DFWing!!:rotfl:

P.S. Agree with Minniespender though - if you have the receipt you should be able to take them back to the shop. Receipts don't normally show what vouchers are for specifically, so you should get a full refund and have saved the £1 off the rest of your shopping...:j

...so it might be "well done Mr chocoholic", after all!!:T

I told him this and he dug the receipt out of the bin (it was right on the top, honest!!) and is going to try and take it back tomorrow, bless him!

Anyone know if Asda needs a reason for a return or whether they'll just give one?

Big applause to Mr chocoholic :T :T :T - digging through the bin (even on the top! ;)) promotes him way up the ranks in the DFW stakes!!!;)

I shop mostly at Asda and as long as you have the receipt I think they'll accept anything. If customer services push the issue, I would just say "bought in error" (i.e. wrong size, make, etc), but in my experience, they are usually too busy to quibble unnecessarily over things, and if you have the receipt to prove you bought them from there originally, they will be all too happy to deal with you quickly and move on to the next person in the queue!:D

  • I've had the same experience as piglet at Asda - they are more than happy to help and have never quibbled with me.

If they do, just start muttering on about how your little girl has stopped weeing in her sleep and that there's far less pee about these days. You won't even get to the end of your sentence. :rotfl:

  • I've never had any problem with getting refunds at Asda - most times they don't ask for a reason. Sometimes they ask if there is anything wrong with the product.
I took back a faulty Christmas decoration one year and they gave me a credit voucher as well as replacing the product "for my inconvenience"
