CCJ declined credit cards etc...

I had numerous debts back to 2000 + all settled 2006 onwards after my divorce was settled etc... Only recently I have looked at my credit files, tidies some things up as there were defaults on it unpaid etc... All of these defaults are due to come off my file 2011/2012, which will be great. One thing I have noticed is there is an unpaid CCJ for £189. I was under the impression my solicitor at the time of the divorce had settled this but no. I contacted the Sheriff court and said I wanted to pay it, but the company who submitted the action have changed businesses. I contacted the new business as they are still trading under the same name, but he couldn't find anything in the old 'books'.I want to pay this, I have a court ref no on my credit file, what should I do, and when will this come off my account. I have tried twice in the past year to apply for a credit card to no avail, it feels I will never get rid of my debt past!

I'm sort of in the same boat. I've got one from four years ago from my water company after a david v goliath fight. I've only recently found out whilst applying for a job! Even if you pay it - it will still stay on there. I'd ride out the 6 years mate.
Also when I first started working for the bank they found an old decree granted against me from when I was 18. I had to pay it and prove it before they would let me continue employment and that was hard because the creditor had already written it off as bad debt and actually wasnt interested in paying it but I had to.
Its fair to say our past will haunt us for a while...
What about some of the higher end cards... vanquish type..??0 -
If the 'new' company don't have any record of it as they've changed business and if they aren't bothered about you paying it, perhaps you could get them to write to the court to get it removed from your credit file. You've already offered to pay and they don't seem bothered about it so this could be an option. Even if they do decide to take the money it might be worth asking them to take it off anyway under the circumstances. Worth a try, you've got nothing to lose.0

So what if I don't pay it, it will have been on my file 6 years by feb 2011, will it automatically be removed even if it was unpaid? Thanks for your replies x0

Yes, a CCJ is removed after 6 years. Paid or unpaid.
If your unaware of a CCJ, you could ask to set aside. And you would win if the other company doesn't come forward.
Creditors can remove a CCJ before 6 years is up, however they usually do not and just leave it with the court.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
