Rocky Road to Debt Free Wedded Bliss!!

Hi ladies and gents!

I joined the website last year after my LBM at the time I had a wedding booked which we had to cancel due to finances, anyway a year on and we feel ready to start planning again and have realised whats important, we are not planning the lavish wedding we were before and instead are doing it MSE stylie!!

Anyway I have had one or two diaries over the last year and after a month or two away thought I would start a new one :D - Hope you don't mind!!

My signature needs updating so please ignore it for now, once I have worked out whats been paid over the last few weeks I will update it!

I have four debts all near the end end it is killing me lol I feel so close yet so far!

Hows everyone else doing, any hints and tips for me?? xxxx

  • Hiya, well I did a carboot yesterday and raised £83 - didn't think i did bad to be honest, there wasnt many people there due to the weather being abit iffy, but may have another route round and do another in a week or so to try and get rid of the last few bits I have! Still not updated my signature yet but will try to asap. I have bought myself a little finances book which I am gonna fill in so i know exactly what I owe and to who... since I last posted properly my dog was taken ill, and we incurred a vet bill of 1500 :O he's better now, but we are currently paying that off aswell - it does sometimes feel like 1 step forward 2 steps back but I have faith that me and OH will get there, very much looking forward to the wedding in December and also love that its on a budget! I feel so proud of myself - ive got an all hands on deck theme going which so far is working a treat for us :D

Well those of you who I spoke to before will know that im a big fan of the PADDING system, that has died down over the past few weeks with the dog being poorly but hope to get that back up and running! so the debts im working on now are....

    VERY - £183
HALIFAX - £164 (this isnt the halifax in my signature but an additional debt my OH managed to inccur - grrrr)
NEXT - TBC but is under 200 and a debt I knew nothing about!
BARCLAYS - 667.48 - VERY excited about settling this debt as I have had it four years and it ends in November! Ideally would like to settle it before then but realistically that wont happen - booooo

So the plan is to have the above paid off before Christmas and then i'm going to tackle OH's Virgin credit card!

  • Hi, thanks for the reply - I know i was mortified when I discovered it, I had been ordering out of the catalogue and paying minimum payments without even noticing (slap on the wrist for me) anyway since joining the site i took the balance down from over 1000 down to £177 :D to be honest I was hoping to have it paid off by now but theres always something else for example car breaking, OH off work, vets bills -- arrrrggghhh!! hoping to get back on track now :D just made a PAD of £6.22, so I am officially back into the PADDING woohoo!!

Get paid on Friday so I am hoping to pay half of my outstanding balance and then in september close the account - eeeek wish me luck!

    xx
