Aldi selling Tesco own brand lager?

I went into my local tesco today, don't normally shop there.
I was checking out the beer prices when I came across Tesco own brand lager.
When I looked at the price on the shelf, the label said
"Tesco Lager 4% 4x500ml £2.28, £2.39 in Aldi"

When Tesco do this they compare their price to a similar product in Aldi. It won't be Tesco's own brand.0

There were actual cans for sale?
Not uncommon for items to be delievered to the wrong stores (in Morrisons we often had Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's branded items come in by mistake), but it is unusual for them to be set out onto the shelves, usually it is spotted and sent back to the distributor

Yes this just means a similar product in terms of quantity and product type. The quality is questionable though.
Like you, we don't usually shop at Tesco but ended up there out of our locality.
We bought a 3 litre bottle of their own dry cider. Tesco had the big sign underneath saying Tesco £2.90 - Sainsburys £3.20
When we actually tried the stuff it tasted nothing like the Sainsbury's equivalent. Would much rather pay the extra 30p for better quality.0 -

Hi, zenseeker
The goods were in Tesco but trying to compare to a product in Aldi. (If it had been in Aldi they would hardly have wanted to point out they were more expensive than Tesco.)
I think Tesco branches which are near an Aldi but Sainsbury's is much further away do use the comparison with Aldi. (Think they may also compare with Asda if that is the nearest.)0 -

I know but it wasn't a joke. Pubs round our way charge over that for one PINT of cider or lager.
Lager must cost the manufacturers pennies to produce. Water plus the ingredients. Decent cider probably more seeing that it is apple juice.
Anyway good luck with deciphering your way round Tescos misleading adverts!!0
