Bradford exchange - anyone else get ripped off?!

I bought a locket from the bradford exchange for my nan just over a year ago which was £60-70 so not exactly cheap...
Anyway, when I visited her yesterday, the 'gold' plate has peeled off leaving the back a rusty copper colour
I phoned the company but have been told (rudely, which I always think makes it worse) it is out of guarantee as their guarantee is a year...is there anything more I can do?
I know gold-plated isn't gold (and I wouldn't have bought it if she hadn't chose it) but should it really just peel off? After just one year?
Has anyone else had a bad experience with this company?

I think its a fair comment from the company that it is out of guarentee. Although no need for them to be rude to you.
And to answer you question about gold plate, yes it can just peel off especially if it worn all the time or gets perfume on it, or gets showered/bathed all the time.
I had a present from my nan that came from Bradford Exchange which had some gold plating on it so for that reason I always took it off and only put it on after showering and putting on perfume so years later it is still in a1 condition.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know.
