First Time buyer Mortgage help

Hi,

Wondering if anyone on here might be able to help me with this, my partner and I are hoping to get a mortgage soon , however my partner has only just started a new job (PAYE) and is currently on a 3 month trial period. My question is for mortgage application purposes how long will the average lender want to see him employed with this company for?

Thanks

  • Some will want 6, some will want three, a couple will accept one - but pretty much all will want end of 'trial period' ....

And frankly you should want the same (at least) and by the time you get ready to make an application it should be just about up anyway !

I think it's three months, but they might be a little cautious of someone who is still in their "trial period". If they caught wind of that fact, then they may want you to wait until his trial period is over before they can lend you any money, as they want to make sure you're in the most suitable position possible to pay it back.

I'm not sure though, as I'm only a first-time buyer myself and haven't yet secured a mortgage!

I think it varies, but typically three months pay slips are needed.

From a personal perspective you should ensure that the job works out and that its seen as secure long term employment.
