Hi,
Actually i think the mattress is rather nice, i have received the replacement custom made one and the quality to me seems excellent, this one is about the right firmness however iv noticed it seems harder to sleep on in the middle of the bed, i think this is down to my bed having a metal bar down the middle and i may need to consider another thin mattress underneath or pegboard or just go for a pocket spring latex combo.
I cannot fault the service i have had from yanis and would fully recommend them to anyone looking for a mattress as they have been more than fair letting me replace the mattress. whether i decide to replace this one or not will have to see. Would appreciate some advice regarding the metal bar and how i can overcome this effecting the firmness. thanks
Whilst i did like the sound of the specs of the la romantica vienna or monaco i am concerned it would be a bit firm and it does cost quite a bit more yet you only get a one year guarantee, i just wish there were more latex latex/pocket sprung mattresses to consider, i cannot seem to find many outside of the big manufacturers which don't seem to have the quality anymore.0 -

The guarantee period with most manufacturers is 12 months. When you see a longer warranty, it is usually on a sliding scale. All products must have a design life. So for example if something has a design life of 5 years, and develops a fault due to materials or workmanship after 4 years, then the manufacturer must pay towards the cost of replacement or repair. But you would have to pay 80% plus delivery. So when manufacturers give a 5 year warranty, then they are only doing what they are obliged to do by law, but they are using it as a sales gimmick.
If there was a fault in the manufacturing process then it should appear within 12 months anyway.0 -
I currently have a full latex mattress (Talalay) density 68kg/m3 it was bought in Spain where they seem to be more common. I'm looking to replace with something similar hopefully though I'll not have to order it from Spain!
I had seen the Yanis ones. Allybee, can you tell me are you still happy with your mattress? and with the custom made one can I ask how much it cost and what the specifications were on it?
I'm also looking at the organic abaca Ramsey Mattress. Does anyone have this mattress? Please can you tell me how it is?
Any advice greatly received. Many thanks0 -
I bought an organic latex mattress from Yanis in November and am very pleased with it. It is pretty hard but i find very supportive. They can supply custom mattresses in both size and hardness. I chose a custom size and a mono-zoned mattress which means the entire mattress is the same hardness. I prefer the consistency of having one zone especially since I frequently flip and rotate the mattress. I don't think you need to rotate latex mattresses like you do spring mattresses but I've always done it in the past so is no bother. It is heavy though! I also figured having a multi zoned mattress would increase the number of glue joints between the various sections which could potentially break apart. My theory only but not sure whether this would occur in reality. Anyway my mattress took about three weeks to be delivered as it was customised and was delivered rolled up. It expands a fair bit once you cut the plastic wrapping!
Latex mattress are fairly thin in comparison to sprung mattresses but my double bed has a metal bar down the middle and I can't feel it through my mattress like someone earlier reported they could.
I think a woman would find the medium/firm too hard so would probably want a softer latex but I'm a man and I find mine very supportive. I have a slatted base which helps to soften it a little, perhaps on a solid base it would be too hard but I haven't tried. I used to get neck aches with my old pillows but the new latex pillows have given me no grief what so ever.
Basically Yanis did a good job and am pleased with my mattress as it fits my Ottori bed perfectly.0
