I have today come across a website that sales old tv programmes and have been transferred onto dvd. The company is is in the uk and when I look at contact details it lists the persons name po box no. but no telephone number. They do accept payment by cards or cash and cheque can be sent.
The site also gives directions to a street and I presume this is where they are but no indication where they are there. I have street viewed and it is an area of terraced properties.
I would very much like some of the dvds but am concerned this could be a rogue set and concerned about parting with my card details.
Any thoughts please!

If it is a limited company, go to the Companies House website and check for details.
If he gives a VAT number, go to HMC site and check it.
Also do a whois on the website name, to find out the registered information. If it is a dot co uk and his details are unavailable, then he has registered as a private individual, if so, and as he is trading then the details should be shown, you could then complain to Nominet and ask for details, obviously give them the website address.0 -
You can get a prepaid credit card very useful when buying on line I have one. So as an example if the cost is £10 I will put £11 onto the card and that is the most you could possibly lose if it is dodgy. I have a virgin prepaid cardLow Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs
Since first using Martins I have saved thousands0 -
It only lists someones name on their website and does not appear to be a company. However that said I will ring Royal Mail and try and obtain the address behind the post box. Provided it is not listed as a sensitive box they will give me the address.0

Unless they are really old programmes and out of copyright the chances are that he doesn't have the rights to sell the DVDs. That is presumably why he is keeping a low profile.
Chances are he will deliver the goods, scammers are lazy and will target well known goods and mostly expensive ones e.g. iPods. I can't see a scammer setting up a site for old TV programmes as it would be too obscure. Your best bet is to google the company to see if there are any reports online, and also email him a few questions as generally scammers wouldn't bother replying.0
