Just seen an advert for musicmagpie.co.uk,
Its a way of getting rid of old CD's, DVD's and games. You type in the bar code, they send you a quote and if you accept, print off the freepost label. Send them the items and they send you a cheque.
Just wondering if anyone has heard of it or even tried it and if it is any good?
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks

What most people need to learn in life is how to love people and use things instead of using people and loving things0 -
they are good for ridding your dvds that are worth nothing nowadays and sold in hmv for a couple of quid new
Better alternatives for games though - tradeyourgames.co.uk and cex are much much better and offer more for your games..0 -
I sent a box of around 20 CDs to them over 10 days ago, the items were still showing as 'not processed' so i sent them an email and apparently the package has not arrived so they have advised me to claim back rom Royal Mail ... I knew it was too good to be true.0

Just for info I have sent 2 boxes of dvds/games off to MM. They can be a bit slow processing but do tell you it could be 10 days etc.
Both times all was fine and the cheques were sent out and cashed fine.
I found it very easy to use.
What I would say is check you are getting the best price. I checked all mine on Amazon etc first then MusicMagpie- For the last box I would have got slightly more on Amazon BEFORE all the fees were taken off so it was actually worth sticking to MM if you take this into account as you can send all at once and are not waiting for people to buy, queuing at the posty lol (pet hate of mine!).
The only pain is you have to send ten items at once (fair enough since they pay postage) but I have 7 items sat lol! Postage-wise you can either print a label/on paper off and stick on yourself or if you have no printer, request they post the labels out to you (this adds a couple of days on but if you haven't a printer is handy).
Also, experiment with what they will take - we have sent then dvds, cd's, pc and xbox games, and was surprised at some of the amounts offered for the "old" games.
Hope this helps someone.MSE-ing since 20070 -
I found it an easy way to get rid of a lot of dvds and cds I didn't want and would only get pennies for on ebay.
The process is simple but does seem to take a long time to process.

I would rather put them as part of a car boot stall and sell lots of my other possessions or list them on eBay (games generally, but DVDs too - get £1.50ea at car boots?!) than send them to MM for 30p."We are the change that we seek."0

I would strongly suggest not using Music Magpie. See my other money saving expert post for details...

Warning about them if you reject their offer in their T&C says you have to pay for return postage. Which I think is a total cheek.
I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole attached to a bargepole. I have heard some dishonest practises and going back on their agreements with another company.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740
