Q for beauty therapists/masseuse?

Options
Okay I have a question I am hoping someone can answer. I knwo theres a couple of beauty therapists on the boards but dont lnow if any of them do things like aromatherapy massage etc.

Its for my OH. I love getting a massage and wanted to get my OH a back and neck massage for a treat. The thing is he's always refused point blank to entertain the idea and Ive now found out why.

He's worried he might enjoy it (a little too much) and that it would be obvious IYKWIM :o;).

He's terrified that if he had any kind of massage that he'd get aroused and the girl would notice and think he's some kind of deviant, and he's such a decent fella :D

Anybody had experience of this and words of reassurance for the poor bloke, please?

  • I don't offer massage as I have arthritis in my thumbs, but I do a lot of men's intimate waxing. When you're handling their nether regions they can and do get aroused and I simply ignore it. Most professional massage therapists will do the same.
If the man were to apologise about it (and some will, some won't) I simply say "no bother" and carry on regardless. If he were to suggest I do anything "inappropriate" with it I'd pour hot wax all over it!

Lots of places will request that he keep his underwear on. Obviously I can't ask that as I need access to the area.

Any massage that i've performed has always had the gentleman keep his undies on. That region is covered with a towel aswell so TBH I wouldn't notice if my client became 'excited'.

One guy did point it out too me and I just laughed and made a lil joke of it. Most therapists realise that this is an involutary reaction and shrug it off. Its all about professionalism.

im a massage therapist and most men ive massaged have had back shoulder neck massages etc so i wouldnt know if they became aroused anyway !!

sometimes ive worked on legs but never had anything happen - as long as your hands are firm enough it doesnt feel ''like that'' if you get me ?

  • Oh the poor bloke! I think its very sweet he's so concerned about it.

If he has a back, neck and shoulder massage he'd normally be laid on his tummy, so the therapist wouldn't notice anyway. Since they leave you alone, covered in the towel, to get dressed, so she'd not see it when he went to get up. If he happened to have a bulge when he walked out, well, he's just a bit gifted, isn't he?? :P

Wow- never even thought about this happening to men, makes me even happier to be a women (lol!)

OP, have you thought about finding places that do duo massages where you can get it done together? or even types of massages that are only done on the back, neck, shoulders and head or Indian head massages?

Failing that, what about looking for a male masseuse?

A professional, qualified massage therapist would first of all carry out a client case history to ensure that he has no contra-indications. While doing this they would make sure that their language, body language and everything about them was completely professional.

Your DH would lie face down on the couch (keeping his underwear on and covered with towels.) The therapist is trained to avoid any erogenous zones.

At the end of the massage, your DH would still be face down and would be advised to stay there and relax and get dressed when they're ready. The therapist would then leave the room.

DH has regular massages from the same lady I go to, and it's a non-issue. Mind you he's fairly relaxed in any event!

    Some great answers there thanks.

I have told him about posting this question, and I will show him this thread.

I have tried explaining all of this to him but I think he needed to hear it from he horses mouth (so to speak).

So wish me luck, Its a shame he's missing out on experiencing a proper massage by a therapist so hopefully this'll give him a push.

Again thanks all for the replies.

I do both swedish and sports massage.

I have never had this happen and I have massaged alot of men, admittedly mostly doing sports and there is no way anybody would become aroused. But somebody asked me once about it once and I said it wouldn't shock me, I would just ignore it and carry on.

Although it is a clients choice, I try and start a massage with the client laying on their back, and then finishing with them on their stomach so you would never know. Since doing the sports massage I find it very hard to perform relaxing massages now anyway, when you find those knots and the client doesn't want them working on it's quite frustrating.
Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY
