White Fluffy Things Floating In White Vinegar

I just took a bottle of white vinegar from the back of the cupboard to wash my windows with and it seems to have little white fluffy things floating in it.

I am guessing it is some sort of bacterial growth but I have never seen anything like it before, does anyone have any idea what it is?

It can't bacterial growth. Vinegar inhibits the growth of bacteria so that's why it's used as a food preservative. As you're only using it to clean windows and not to sprinkle on your chips I wouldn't worry about it

    It sounds like mould spores.

When you use it what do you do? Do you pour the required amount out and then seal up the bottle again or do you put your cloth over the top of the bottle and tip it up onto the cloth. With the latter option it's easy to see how contamination could occur.
Personally, just for cleaning windows, I'd scoop out the fluffy bits and use only on windows (not food) unless they kept coming back then I'd just chuck it (down the loo so it gets a descaling too ;))

    It's only a game

I usually just pour some into a bucket rather than place a cloth on the end of the bottle.

Thankfully I don't use it for cooking, I use malt vinegar for that.

Which raises the question can malt vinegar be used for washing windows?

Could it not simply be some of the bacterial culture that makes vinegar in the first place? The 'mother of vinegar' sort of thing?
