I have done, a cca to Jdwilliams, about my hubby account, we do not denied, we had any goods. etc.. I think we should had, a sar a breakdown of what we paid when we stop paying the original debt, in 2001-2003, when it was handed over to un-reliable collections..
We had asked them twice verbally and written, to give us proof we owe the charges.
Debt was about under £40,
we not sure when we started to pay, unreliable..
debt rose to £360, payed £140.00, these are approx amount.. It was this year we realised we paying just charges.. We want to know when they got our payment, also when they applied charges for not getting it on time.. I know it could be a day late, next month they would add, £12.... I did ask with hubby premission, the company are we paying charges, Yes! we are feeling bit stupid, to let it carry on. now. My second point... When we paid the original debt, or why did we not realise. we could settled it sooner, letting the debt run away in charges etc..
l am sure we are not the first or the last get stuck in the rut, but l am sure the debt company had the responsiblity to seek settlement of the original debt, letting us know that if we do not pay up, what time when etc.. we would not be where we are now. Then if the debt is over six years old, is it statue barred... which brings us to another point.. how do we get out of paying charges for six years or more all so can we say the charges are unfair, etc its how to prove it.. We could only pay a minium payment, from a £1, increased to £3.40 -ncreased to £5.40 (sent £6) increased £7.40.. we not missed in the agreement each month for eons..
hope this is clear, how to proceed ty in advance for your advice...

Did you get a letter of JD Williams telling you they were passing it onto a DCA, and how much was left to pay? It's time something was done about these dammed charges!!!:mad: My oh was paying £2 at the end of every month to Droids DCA, we then got a letter saying it was going back to Shop Direct but to carry on as normal, which we did. I then increased the payments to £13 and worked out how long it would take to pay it off. Next thing we know a £12 charge is slapped on for "late payment". So I phoned them up to ask why as it was going as usual. I was told it had been changed to 28 days. So I told them to go to hell - or words to that effect:o Anyway they kept putting on charges and I kept a note of how much was on the original debt, and when that was paid, I stopped the SO. The letters then started, so I sent a CCA request, they wrote back with a load of guff, so I ignored them!! They then defaulted us and sent the debt to Lowells. I then sent them a CCA letter, and got one back that they couldn't find one due to the age of the debt (1993) and sent it back to Shop Direct. This was last month and I've heard nothing since!!! I refuse to pay charges when we weren't informed that the payment date had been changed!! Mind, I wouldn't pay them anyway, its disgraceful they can get away with this!!! If you cannot pay the original, how are you supposed to pay even more!!!! It's about time this was looked into, once someone is in trouble, all interest and charges should stop!!!!:mad:0

It is most interesting, that we never did get a letter from JD Williams about the debt being passed on, l do agree with you, its bad enough to get into debt, it is much harder to solve when we do not know what these debt collectors can do.. I am hopping mad at myself thank you so much for pointing it out to me, It was my hubby debt, his memory is not so good...
