Asset Recovery Letter - Is this a scam please?

I recently received a letter from a company named Stern Levenson who claim to be an Asset recovery specialist. The letter says that their research has identified an unclaimed entitlement that they believe to be due to me of around 4k.

The letter is accompanied by a nice brochure and an agreement form that if I sign, would entitle them to 25% of the money they recover.

Has anyone heard of this firm or come across anyone else sending out this type of letter?

I'm thinking that it may be a scam but I don't want to dismiss it completely without checking first.

Any help would be great, thanks

Can't recall this particular firm but I recall from similar posts on this section that signing up is not recommended.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

They don't ask for any bank details or other personal details and It looks so convincing. They sent me a nice little brochure and they have a website https://www.sternlevenson.co.uk
  • I also received a letter from same firm. they now say they have recovered my entitlements, but they want me to send their commision before they send my cheque.
    Any thoughts please?
  • Hi

My in-laws have just received a similar letter saying they are due £4500. has anyone actually got any money from them?

I've done some research and the company address is the first worrying thing. I did a google maps search and realised that the address is actaully a travel agents called Blue Star Travel. We rang and checked and they said that they are a travel agents and Stern levenson use it as a postal address only. we then rang the Rep for Stern Levenson and the call was managed by vodafone live mobile service. We tehn got through and asked we they operated out of a travel agent and they first said they worked in the back ! and then when pushed they claimed they used to be based here and had moved, so why lie?

Anyone got any info to confirm if this is a scam or not?

If a company starts lying about where they are situated, when do they stop lying. Avoid.

  • Hi, recently received a letter from Stern Levenson claiming that they had some money for me. As a naturally sceptical person I ignored it, and it was only because my wife did some googling and found the posts on this forum that we got in contact with them.

And i am very glad that she did.

It turns out that they are like that "Heir Hunters" programme on daytime TV. They were very nice and explained everything clearly and in a straightforward manner. No legalise, thank you very much... We got our cheque and were very pleasantly surpised at how easy the whole process was. They were 100% honest, only took payment at the end and with no hidden charges. We ended up with 12K that would have otherwise never made its way to us. Yaaaaaaay!!!!!:T

Holiday in Thailand here we come!!!!

So bravo Stern Levenson and Thank you to the wonderful members on this forum who encouraged my wife to call them!
