is my property defective?

  • Update...I went to the council house yesterday to see if I could aquire more info on my property, as obviously I only have verbal confirmation from what could just be an overly cautious surveyor.

Well, the right to buy departments response was; "we acknowledge that there is a major problem here, but we cannot disclose anymore information, you need to seek independent legal advice." The lady who was working on the reception there was quite shocked and said that she only hears them say that when they think theyre gonna be sued. Or perhaps theyre just trying to frighten me thinking I wont be able to do anything? I don't know...

Im really worried now, to be fair the whole uncertainty thing is making me feel ill, and since speaking to a solicitor yesterday, they said theyll probably be able to persue a claim against both the local authority and the original surveyor on a no win no fee basis on the strength of my case.

I really didnt want all this and Im getting really stressed and already have a touch of post natal depression.

I'd sue their !!! off. Both of them. If i got a homebuyers survery and it said ti was worth 100k.. and I paid on this information then.... found out it was worth 50k i'd be verty annoyed.. especially as the valuation was what you've paid.

You should sue them for the overpayments you've paid on your mortgage considering if you'd have a smaller mortgage etc.
