Santander I give up, you can’t even give them money

Went into two branches of Santander to open a bond with them, told by both branches I had to come back next week with an appointment to see a financial advisor. Told both I didn’t want an appointment but they insisted I couldn’t open a bond without one.
At home did it on the internet and waited and waited. Telephoned Santander after a week of no contact to be told they had a backlog and it would be up to a further 10 days before I would get instructions on how to pay money in. I told them not to bother; the rep then told me I could go to a branch and open a bond immediately if I wished, no I can’t they won’t let me. He told me it’s like going into a car showroom, they are there to sell you the extras, you don’t have to buy them. I told him to use your analogy I’m so fed up I no longer want the car. Visited a branch of the Cheshire and opened a bond that afternoon, they didn’t try to sell me anything else.
My first and last experience of Santander.
