Help!! default received, advised now my account has been sectioned? im scared....

Ok so quick story
in december last year i had got fed up of accumulating bank charges every month so i got my wages paid in to another account so i could start fresh.
This left a silly amount of around £800 in bank charges on this old account which they wanted me to pay back at £260 a month!
couldnt afford this so i paid £100 a month
Now the account is at £400 (£200 is my arranged overdraft) so i only really owe them £200.
Im in the process of claiming my bank charges back and was hoping that would clear my problem... iv been advised my complaint has been accepted but as yet they are investigating the actual settlement and wont be settled until 25th sept
I received a default notice stating i had until 16th sept to pay back the £200, so today i called them to offer £30 a month only to hear my account has been 'sectioned'
this has scared the wits out of me and i dont know whats gonna happen now...:(

can anyone shed some light?

I would really aprreciate it!!!

Thanks

S x

Sorry, never heard of a bank account being sectioned - I work in a bank, but it's not a term I have come across. Bumping your thread to see if anyone has any ideas.

  • If your claiming your bank charges back then the account is now in despute, while you are desputing the account no action can be taken until everything has been settled. Does that make sence, hope so!!!!

When you have got your charges back you can then arrange to pay anything that might be left over.
  • oh yes anyone please correct me if i'm wrong :D

why not phone up and explain the situation?
  • thanks guys
basically i called up the bank to offer a repayment only to find out they had transfered my account to a collection agent 2 days before the date they had given me to pay!

tig - so do u think that as my account is in dispute over these charges they cannot ask for any money from me until my complaint is resolved?
