Argos Alderle bed and Ikea mattress - will it work? Help needed and appreciated here!

Hi all. First post here so I hope it's in the right place.

I went to Ikea and bought a Sultan sprung mattress measuring 140x200cm. I intended to buy a bed to match but couldn't get it in the car and couldn't afford delivery (more than the bed). Ikea is 3 hours away and I have no car so options are now limited!

I like the Argos Alderley bedframe but I can't post the link - its the white double frame, sizes listed as w146.7, L200, H116cm

But as the length of the bed is 200cm I don't know if my mattress will squish in. Has anyone done this? I'd really appreciate the advice as money is tight and I need a bed soon! Thanks so much.

The dimensions of the Argos bed will be external dimensions, and not internal where the mattress goes. The mattress to fit the Argos bed would have to be a standard UK double, which is 190cm long. Your Ikea mattress is continental double, and is 200cm long.

If you haven't unpacked your mattress then it would be worth finding out if Ikea will take it back. Otherwise you will be limited at to what bed you can get. Ikea mattresses are poor quality anyway.

Looking on Argos site, I don't think it would "squish in, as there is a gap at the head end of the frame, so mattress could potentially overhang by up to 10cm.

You can't just squish mattresses into beds, or you will damage them.
