Thanks msmicawber some good ideas.
I'm trying to kerb the going out - we dont do it too too much (honest guv) - I do worry about his spending, then again I do have control freak tendancies. I also see his debt as our debt, but he doesnt want to share ROTFL! Hopefully I will spur him on!
A second job isnt really an option, I'm often working away from my main office so cant guarantee hours and often away at weekends (we live miles from friends and families). Plus (like tonight) I'm still in work - damn me for getting a job with expected but unpaid overtime!
I really should stick his card to the bottom of the pile. The cars his though and I am taking the money from selling it (lol) - although I have a feeling that H wants to sell it to his bro who'll pay us back monthly which I'm not happy about.
I've started cycling to work to on some of the days I'm in the office - trying to do 3 days a week which saves £18 in fuel a week which will be handy (and also less other car expenses)
Do credit card companies often lower the debts? The HSBC one I'll clear next month and the Lloyds within a few months (restructuring payments so minimums on the cheap debts) so it's really just Hs card that needs lowering - another job for him! The grad loan is at 5.9% anyway!0 -

a. have you established that you can actually take the money out from your pension payments
b. and if so do you know how much you will get (as it will be taxed before they pay you)
i would think you would be better to try to establish where your money actually is spent each month and also talking to OH to find out exactly what he spends and the state of his debts.
looking at your SoA its difficult to conclude much because
a. you say 500 for mortgage bills food...are you sure that thats what you spend. does this include all the utility bills, council tax, water, phone internet etc?
b. also there seems no mention of things like car related costs..tax, insurance, MOT,RAC/AA, servicing and no mention of cloths, presents, holidays (except weekends aways), present, xmas etc.
perhaps you and OH should start a spending diary and see exactly where the money is going.
also are you tracking your overall level of debt...is it actaully dropping each month?
I'll try and remember the joint account one too - off the top of my head
Income - 1150
Outgoings
Mortgage - 712
house loan - 46
insurances - 45
gas - 25
electricity - 20
internet - 23
BT - 11
Orange - 35
water - 20
Council Tax - 110
Veg Box - 25
Meat - 25
Supermarket spend - 50
TV license - 11
total - 1158
Oh forgot to say - Insurance I've just paid on the 0% credit card so is included in that balance. Tax H pays separately, AA cover is included with our bank account, servicing we do ourselves - kind of find the £50 we need for the parts when it comes up. Present buying I always forget to budget for!0 -

I'm not sure, but it's worth a try. I'm sure I saw a post recently where the OP had phoned and asked if they could have a lower interest rate and was rewarded for his/her cheek! I'd offer to try and find it, but keep losing connection to the site this evening (probably Microsoft downloading updates to fix their flaky software).Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)
Debt free success date: 14.8.2006 :j0
