We use Lidl basic dishwasher tablets and they're fine. Lidl salt and rinse aid. Never had a problem with them. They're excellent value for money.
Do yourself a favour, if you live in a hard water area, make sure you use limescale tablets also. The water in our area is extremely hard and we always use Lidl W5 Limescale tablets with every load in the dishwasher and washing machine.
I had the misfortune of having the 'dreaded' bra wires being lodged in my washing machine somewhere recently. Luckily the engineer managed to get them both out and when he removed the heating element to get them out, the element was completely free of limescale (after 3 years use). It was reassuring to see that the limescale tablets actually do work!!
Hope this helps0 -

yes used 1 other day, to be honest it was a good as the finish tabs but we need to try them on dirtier stuff to see how they do0 -
I like the dishwasher powder that you can buy from Morrisons or Co-Op.
One bottle seems to last for ages0 -
I don't use separate salt, I read somewhere if you live in a soft water area you don't need it.
I don't use rinse aid either as I buy the all in one tabs - usually from Aldi or if I don't get those I use asda smartprice. I find the results better than finish powerball etc0 -
:money:Hi, The most cost effective solution is a 3 or 4 in 1 tablet. Costs and results vary dramatically. Wilkinson own brand are very good and half the supermarket price. If you work for a nice employer, apply for a Makro cash and carry card. They sell in just slightly larger amounts than supermarkets and their laundry / cleaning supplies are often superb bargains.
Finish is the clear top of the range dishwasher tab. I had 4 packs for £19 from Makro.
You don't need salt or rinse aid if you use 3 in 1 tabs. If any dishes are not entirely clean, just run a prewash in addition to your normal cycle.0 -
I buy tesco value tablets. The front of my dishwasher had cracked and the engineer was coming to fix it as it was still new. He should have come in the afternoon but arrived in the morning when my dishwasher was on. He said it didn't matter as he was only replacing a part on the front. When he open the door he said there was far too many suds and it would cause leaking. He suggested i break the tablets in half next time and only use half a tablet per wash.....i tried it and it worked just as well....double the value.
I always use dishwasher salt and this is my reason why....for months i used the tablets with rinse aid and salt in so i never topped up the salt dispenser. After a while everytime i open the door i could smell rotten eggs....i tried everything i could possibly do to get rid of the smell, lemons, bleach etc etc and nothing worked. In the end i topped up the salt and as i did the most horrific smell of eggs came from the machine. I top up the salt regularly now and as previously said i use half a value dishwasher tablet and i've never had this problem again0
