Evening or rather goodnight, here is my dilema, friend is getting married tomorrow,I'd bought white linen trousers with a beautiful black flowery top to wear and white sandals.Have been out for the hen night (staid totally sober),whilst out some drunk has stood on my right foot :mad: foot is so badly swollen I can't get my right sandal on. The only shoe I can get on is a pair of black dolly shoes ,it is very unlikely that the swelling will go down enough for tomorrow What do I wear on my feet????

You should have collared the drunk to carry you around tomorrow.

Lol where as that would be a fantastic idea I don't think its very realistic.Great big oaff of a man he was ,my foot didn't stand a chance. On a serious note though what can I do ,foot is currently elevated with a bag of frozen peas that are wrapped in a towel on it but the swelling is really bad.I don't think I could turn up in slippers or flipflops

Ouch! Poor you! Will you be able to wear flats with the trousers or are they too long and you need heels?

Sorry, not very good with fashion, but I would recommend some arnica and bromelaine tablets and arnica cream. With a foot in that condition, it wouldn't be OTT.
  • I would see how the swelling goes down over night.

Do you have a compression bandage? They can help with the swelling a bit, and if you get chance (I know its late) to wet it and keep it on, it can really take things down. I was constantly so injured when I used to play hockey...

Take some ibuprofen, its good for the inflammation.

If you do have or can get a bandage, and the sandals are sufficiently unstrappy (IYKWIM), I'd suggest wearing the bandage tomorrow as well.

Hope you feel better tomorrow, and manage to get the sandal on!

Probably a bit late now as you wont get to read it till the morning but incase it happens again:

RICE: Rest Ice Compression and Elevation, keep your foot rested and above your head (lie on the sofa with your foot resting on the arm or similar) keep an ice pack on it and it should help with the swelling.

I don't know what your wardrobe is like nor how painful the injury is so its hard to advise, I'd say go with ballet flats or even diamante flipflops but either may be painful to walk in as your foot is swollen. Hope you manage to get something sorted. Sods law something like that happens when you have something special planned!

good morning all and thanks for all your helpful replies, my foot is still really swollen and looking a lovely shade of purple now.I don't stand a gnats chance of wearing my sandals foot is at least 1 size too big still.:mad:So have decided that even though it doesn't look as co-ordinated as original shoes i am going to have to wear sons white flip flops as he has feet a size bigger than mine and I can slip swollen fot in just , and trousers are long enough to practically cover them ,and keep off the foot as much as possible.Oh happy days;)

Don't forget to paint your toenails and maybe add a bit of braiding or something to the flipflops.

Take extra money with you for a taxi to A&E in case it escalates, hate to put you on a downer but it sounds terrible.

Keep your foot up whenever you can, take a flannel with you and a hairband/bandage (to hold the icepack on!) and ice it with ice from the bar when you can.

    Good Luck!

oooh- to add to aliuros comment- maybe add a small silk hanky or if you can get one, cut on a normal silk scarf and tie into a bow. Feminise the fipflops- hope the day goes well.

So now have to wait for taxi to collect me to make it to reception ,even if only for a few hours, I wouldn't mind so much bt it wasn't even as if it was self inflicted ;)
