Statute Barred

Am I right in thinking that if you haven't paid anything off a unsecured debt in the last 6 years then they cannot chase you for this. had a particular debt for almost 10 years and it's been almost 8 years since I paid anything off it. I recently got my credit report from CreditExpert.com and this debt wasn't on there. Lo and behold, less than 1 week later the company I owed the money to have passed it to a collection agency asking for full payment. Can I just tell these where to go now because of the timescale.
Thanks
Thanks

Unless there is a CCJ, although even then if it has not been enforced in 6 years, they cannot do much about the CCJ.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

If there hasn't been a CCJ award then if there has been no acknowledgement in writing (on the phone doesn't count) or payments made towards the debt then it's statute barred. All you have to do is write to the company chasing you and say that as it's statute barred you aren't going to pay (someone will be along with a template so you do it right) and legally they have to stop chasing you.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Chancers, send them "the letter" and tell them to get f**ked.....simple as"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

The six years start from the last payment or the last acknowlegement by you in writing .aqualona123 wrote: »Hi can someone please confirm do the six years run from last payment of the default notice??GRADUATED FIRST CLASS WITH HONORS FROM THE SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS RECOMENDED READ IF BY RUDYARD KIPLING0
