Hair Care Products

Options
HI , I have been buying online organic (non chemical ) hair shampoo and conditioner .
The problem is this, they are such small bottles and dont last a week in my house:mad: I read online that using full fat mayonaise on your hair as a conditioner is very good. Has anyone tried this ? It would be such a cheap way of conditioning hair.

This has then got me thinking?
what other things can be used for hair care or body care , any suggestions please
Kindness costs nothing :)

  • i think the best hair conditioner is to eat lots of olive oil - it makes my hair really shiny!

also i sometimes use a tiny bit of oil on the ends of my hair, massaging it in before shampooing it out again.
Boyfriend & I have saved £12K in two years, thanks to careful budgeting and keeping a record of what we spend. I've never paid myself this amount of money before - it feels great!

I did this yesturday and my hair was all fluffy lol, I should drink olive oil by the bottle then cos my hairs so dry.

I am determined not to buy another tiny £8 bottle of shampoo again, I am considering trying to use ecovers washing up liquid on my hair to see if it works ?

Do you think it will be safe to use ?

  • as far as i know, detergents (standard commercial shampoo, washing-up liquid, floor cleaner, etc) are pretty similar. some foam-up more, some have more perfume in them, some are more concentrated.

if your hair's dry tho, my thoughts (i'm no expert!) are that washing-up liquid's probably going to dry it out more. do you know of lush's solid shampoo bars? very low on chemicals and don't need any preservatives cos of being solid. (lush.co.uk) ecover do a shower gel...

if you happen to live in south cheshire, can i recommend tahuti? the lady who runs it makes everything by hand, with an absolute minimum of chemicals. no idea if she does mail order for those further away, but her number is 01270 258 256. (i have no connection to tahuti or lush, i just like their products)

Go to http://www.soorganic.com and then the lavera range - they have 250ml bottles of organic shampoo for £3.50 - it's a great brand.
Oops, nearly forgot - if you go through the link on the homepage of http://www.beautybible.com you get a 10% discount (click on the so organic logo on the right of the page)

I have the Lavera shampoo, it seems a bit too watery for me, I like lots of lather..........I ordered the 500ml bottle of shampoo that costs about £22 and that one is really good but so expensive.

  • I buy the Avalon range - peppermint thyme - smells wonderful. Chemical shampoos give me a headache now. Sainsbury's used to stock it. A whole bottle lasts me nearly a year and it costs about £4. You can find it online on thinknatural.

5litre bottles for ~£40. It's designed for wholefood shops to refill the smaller 400ml bottles, but nothing stop you buying one for your own use.

    Postage is free.

If you get shampoo and conditoner together it will take the total over £50, and the site says 10% discount for orders above £50.
