Ringworm

We're having problems with a particularly virulent form of ringworm, which isn't responding to any of the normal treatments.

Apart from being scrupulous with hygiene and not sharing towels and clothes etc, does anyone have any ideas about how to avoid catching this again, or to get rid of it more quickly, as it seems to go round school on as regular a basis as nits!

  • I had this a few years ago and found that the usual treatments didn't work either. Then I found tea tree oil. Massage it into the affected areas twice a day - it worked for me and it's cheap too.
 What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

How long did it take to clear once you started using the oil, Minniespender? All the creams, etc we've been prescribed say 6-8 weeks, which is ages, particuarly when they don't work anyway!
  • I've just recovered from this. First time I had it. I tried 2 creams neither worked so pleaded help from a friend who suggested apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil. It worked wonderfully! It did take about a week and I still have a red wing but compared to being sore and itchy it was wonderful!

Oh, much quicker than six-eight weeks! I'd say the redness went after a couple of days, but I continued using it for a week afterwards. If I ever get a hint of it now, I whip out the tea tree oil and it's gone again.

    Well worth a go!

Brilliant! As luck would have it I have a brand new bottle of tea tree oil upstairs so I'm off to treat all the family now! Thanks.
  • Let us know if it works for you!
