well....i've finally had the courage today to contact the CCCS and admit defeat.....
I am waiting for the email for the next step but I am about to begin my DMP....
I have tried for a few years now to keep a float but know that with a little help I will have a life back for me, my husband and kids!!!
I got divorced 3 years ago and took all of our debt with me....I have been remarried nearly 2 years and I have a good job....my husband lost his job last year and hasn't found much in the way of work until now....although he needs his SIA licence and has a job to go to!!
Lots of different factors have affected my ability to keep up with things each month along with my pride that has stopped me asking for help.....
Anyway guys, I have logged in now and then for advice but would really like the help and support to get us through this....I know is gong to be a tough few months until things settle down but I hope I will have support on here as well as at home....

I will keep you updated but wish me luck!!!!:T

Just wanted to say Well Done! and welcome. I know exactly how you feel and it does take courage to take this step. I dithered for over 12 months, throwing more and more money that I didn't have at my debt.
I'm in the early stage too of setting up my DMP and have just sent token payments to my creditors, which feels very strange at the moment.
The help and advice on this forum is amazing and really helps me to get through the days and I'm sure that it will help you too!
Good Luck and keep posting:)Debt Free 1st March 2017

Hi littleclover,
Well done on having the courage to move forward with a dmp. I contemplated it for a long while, as I was obsessed with my access to store/credit cards and loans etc, but eventually realised the payments were taking all my wages. Good luck in becoming debtfree

Hi Little Clover, not sure about the DCA bit but regards the bank account and DD's. I'm in the process of setting up my DMP and waited for my new bank account details before sending off everything to CCCS, any CC's that were due, I sent token payments of £1 with a template letter explaining what I was doing (there are template letters on this forum and also on CCCS and National Debtline sites, I used one from one of the DMP threads on here, without a paddle I think but I'm sure someone can point you to the threads if need be).
Regards the DD's to CC's I think that most people cancel the DD and then send a token payment between £1 and £5 (I just sent a £1).
Whilst waiting for your DMP to kick in, you can then try to put a bit aside in an emergency fund. I found this bit strange to be honest because I had been so used to not having any money and felt guilty that I wasn't sending it to CC's.... but I've soon got over that and now have a bit of money so that I can budget properly.
Hope that this helps but as I say I'm new to this myself so someone more knowledgeable may correct me
