I have done a quick search & can't find this posted anywhere, so apologies if I'm duplicating anything.
Open-House London / Open City is taking place this year on the weekend of the 18 & 19th September. It's a FREE (:j) weekend when buildings, businesses & museums in London fling their doors open for you to have a peek, often in places you don't usually have access to. It's main purpose is to access & understand architecture and it's brill.
Some buildings you can just rock upto on the day, but to visit some of the really special hidden places you have to make sure you book asap to get in. Booking opens on Monday 9th August (which is why I'm posting now). The programme goes online in the morning so you can see what events there are. Free to book also!!
I went last year & had a nosey round Norman Fosters City Hall when Boris hangs out. Definitely worth a visit if it comes up this year!
Also, they have announced that the BT Tower will be part of the programme with access to the revolving 34th floor & it's views! Tickets to this will be allocated by ballot apparently, so you need to book online for ones like that.
