This is the last time I will respond to you.

I did politely ask you in my previous response, to be civil.

If you had even a little understanding of the nature of addiction, you would not post insensitive comments like this.

I find you offensive, and have reported you as such to MSE.

    Regards,

    Sim.

Sim, congratulations on getting dry, it's a long road but every day is a big step in the right direction!
Have you had a look at what you would be charged if you were to let them take the money from your bank now and you had to deal with the overdraft? What sort of interest would you be looking at on that?

    Hi Emmzi,

I do have DVD's / CD's to sell, but they won't raise much!

The pawn shop is a Money Shop branch, and so won't take these though.

My computer has had a fault with the fan for the last year.

The fault doesn't interfere with the Mac itself, however it's quite noisy when it starts up, and so it'd probably put off most buyers!

    Thanks,

    Sim.

    Hiya,

    Thanks for the support!

    Good point regarding the bank.

I'll be looking at £30 per cheque I think (so £150) + £5 per day of being overdrawn with A&L :o

Am going to have a think this week, and make a decision as how to best tackle it by Friday.

    Thanks again,

    Sim.

I hate to be a pessimist but is there a guarantee that the bank will honour the cheques.

If they fail to do so not only will you end up still owing the Payday company money (and they may have penalty clauses with regards to returned cheques), but you may also find they refuse to extend any loan as as a result, in addition you would also get substantial charges from the bank.

I hasten to add that I have no knowledge of your personal situation and I am not intimating that the banks would not honour the cheques, but I felt it worth commenting on.

So you get some cash for them and reduce what you owe. What about doing some work? What about selling a mobile phone? Car? Jewellery? Borrow off a family member.

What was the money spent on?

I think we have already ascertained that the OP does not have sufficient personal possessions to cover the debt. Labouring the point contributes little to the original query.

The second question, 'what did you spend the money on' has no bearing whatsoever on the case, unless you are looking for the opportunity to have another dig at the OP for his addiction.

    That's a very good point.

I did check with the A&L (anonymously), and they confirmed that the cheques would be honoured (due to a cheque guarantee card having been used when I wrote the cheques at Money Shop).

I do want to repay this.

It's also probably better to keep up the repayments with the Money Shop, as I don't want to get on the wrong side of a company like that, even if it is expensive to pay it off over a longer time.

As you rightly suggest, I could end up owing money to both the Money Shop and the Bank, and this I do not need.

Money Shop I think charge £25 per returned cheque, and there is still the chance of A&L not honouring the cheques (I've heard of a lot of people having problems with them as a bank, as I have in the past, so I don't entirely trust their promise of the cheques being honoured).

Anyway, it looks like I'm going to have to try somehow, to pay the Money Shop asap, without letting the cheques even reach A&L.

    Thanks,

    Sim.

Yes how dare AL consider bouncing cheques you dont have funds for; especially when you have deliberatly split the cheques to circumvent the systemms.....

    Incorrect.

Money Shop insist on their 'Cash 'Til PayDay' Loans being written as seperate cheques - ie £100 per cheque, probably so that they are guaranteed their money (ie - by the guarantee card).

As I said before, you really are unnecessarily rude.

I have reported you again to MSE, for abuse.
