I tried to get zathura in morecambe woolies, shelp price 3.99 but they insisted it was 21.99, so I left it, was not up for a fight, massive queue.

You should have said the words 'trading standards' lol.
  • Woolies online probably never will. If my (failing) memory serves me correctly I think all their DVD's etc are actually ordered and sent through streets online.
If you go to their site, strangely most of the umd titles shown on the front page are the now reduced to £3.99 titles - except they are still all at full price. As the order doesn't actually go to woolies, it is doubtful they will be discounted.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

the ones online are direct from the supplier, therefore they wont be reduced as the stock in store cannot be returned to supplier that is why its cheap - woolies can return most of its stock unless they have missed the deadline then it is sold cheap - direct stock will cost more than 3.99 for ww

iam sorry you were told that this is not the case - this is actaully my store believe it or not, all the umds have now been reduced and are out - whatever is now out is all the stock we have and it is all priced correctly

the umd you chose had an out of stock sticker over the label (or was supposed to have), what the cashier offered you was the umd but she could only order it at 21.99 (see above for the reason why internet is more expensive)

if she didnt explain this i apologise and i can now say that all the umds that are out are in stock and this is our full range - when theyve gone thats it

Thats not right at all, I bought today from two different Woolworths, Harry Potter Goblet of Fire, Final Fantasy VII, The Hitch, Bad Boys, The Descent and The Fog.

Now in one store most of the prices were marked up wrong, in fact Descent was marked at £7.99 and Final Fantasy was marked at £17.99, the friendly assistant scanned them for me and they both came up at £3.99 each.

I suggest you go back tomorrow when quieter if you can and get them to scan it, it will surely be a centralised pricing system. I went to get Zathura as well, but out of stock and she even checked the stock room for me.
Visited the Banbury store today and got them to price check 3 different UMD'S. None of them came up on the till at £3.99 so i don't think it IS a centralised pricing system.
  • not all titles are 3.99 there is the list i posted + the other titles at the top of the thread - some items in the store may be slightly different - HOWEVER - all entertainment items are the same in every store

Thanks. Sorry i misunderstood your post to read that Woolworths were selling all UMD's off as in they were not going to sell them again.

  • Thanks to Ms01ma - you're a genius and my daughter and I will be building a shrine in your honour in the spare room.

Was struggling to find anywhere in London with any in stock. For those of you who come into Central London, the big Woolies in Edgeware Road has tons left BUT...

    - They're all marked at the original prices (but scan at the reduced amount). The checkout staff were stunned, haha!

    - Most of them are not on display but in the drawers behind the counter so take a nice list with you and ask them to take a look.

I got Harry Potter, Deuce Bigalow 2, Stealth, Hitch and Cheaper by the Dozen.

Funny how nowhere has Zathura in stock - the one title that actually was priced correctly everywhere.

Hurry up on this, they're going to go fast especially if they're displayed properly and these titles are already cropping up on ebay as of last night...
  • By the way, anyone know where I can get a list of the old Big W out of town Woolies, as they don't separate them out the website and reckon they'll be the best place to go?
