Nice banks! .... so far.

Hi All,

After all your great advice I've started a DMP with CCCS with my first payment in October. The week before last I sent off my letters to the banks with their token payments and am now sitting waiting for the hate mail to start.

However I've been plesently surprised so far. LloydsTSB have expressed their sorrow and understanding at my current financial difficulties and yesterday I received a letter from Cahoot saying that they would fully support my efforts to get into the black and telling me that if I am being charged by the DMP company then I should move to one of the free organisations available. I'll take that as the first acceptance letter.

I'm still waiting to hear from Capital One and Egg (and Lloyds have not exactly accepted the plan yet) but it's a promising start!

Oh, and Powergen said I'm £160 in credit last week.

Just thought I'd share my good (so far, fingers crossed, touching wood) news.

Well done. We found that most of the banks were OK as soon as they knew we were with CCCS although we still had some very distressing calls until we changed our telephone number.
We are 7 months into our DMP now and although we have some hiccups, its a lot better than it was a year ago before we faced up to the situation.:D
  • Thank you for updating us on your progress.

  • I found Lloyds to be pretty good at accepting my DMP although their collections people in the call centre didn't always seem to know about it at first and were pushy but not rude. And Egg reduced me to sending about 100 emails before they finally got the idea that the CCCS were acting for me!

You should find they'll settle down after a while although you may receive a flurry of default notices and the odd phone call or so at first. To reduce the automated silent calls you can register with SilentcallGard ( https://www.silentguard.co.uk ) which may help a bit.

The only bank I have problems with is Natwest bank who refuse point blank to freeze the interest despite CCCS requests. They are the only ones that refuse to play ball despite the fact that all my other creditors have frozen the interest including Natwest's own credit cards!!

Good luck with the DMP. You're in good hands with the CCCS!
  • I've always found Lloyds to be really helpful - had numerous loans, credit cards, accounts etc. through them. Now Barclays on the other hand...
