Afternoon. I was very good in Starbucks, and have enough left on my card for another drink sometime. But then I bought a new handbag... I've needed another since my old one got a big hole in the bottom in Feb, I've been using a couple of charity shop cheapies but they're not really suitable. Then I saw the perfect one (big and has a long strap so I can wear it across body, and it's pretty) for £11 in the sale in a shop window. So I'm going to be very good for the next week and a half till my next benefits payment and try to only spend on my planned activities, and eat from the freezer - I really need to empty it and get it defrosted but it's packed to the gills.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

PS...Yes Ames the Starbucks card was really good when starting to budget and if you register it online you get more goodies for free :money: In fact last year I was getting a free brew about every 3 months and I got a cup of coffee in there with the card for about £1.40...

.....but if you want to be REALLY frugal you go in there and just ask for a cup of tap water :money:....

If it's the difference between going out and staying put on a no money day it's worth it :)

    Afternoon (evening?) all.

Glad you like your magimix Erme - I do think they are well worth the money. Lovely apple cake made in mine today.

Ames - £11 for a handbag is very reasonable and you can't really manage with one with a hole in it - if your money drops out that certainly wouldn't be money saving!

Erme, I can eat for next to nothing probably for months on what I've got in! So I'm on a strict only buying bread and milk budget for the next week, and possibly fruit, but I've got plenty of tinned and dried.

I love my Starbucks card, the free extras are so worth it. In fact I've got loyalty cards for most of the coffee chains, the Costa one's pretty good too (my writing group meets there and I meet my support worker there too) but the coffee's not as good. Caffee Nero has the best coffee but worst loyalty card. The Starbucks one's best for budgeting too, my psychiatrist said that it was good for me to make a point of going and having a coffee when town was busy, so that I wasn't just hiding away from my fears, so I'd put an amount on every month. I haven't had time to do it for ages though.

    The original message by Pania:A

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P

    Hi All

Please read the post above. This thread is to get across the message that if you are unlucky enough to encounter a nasty response then this is not typical and most people on here want to help, advise and support each other.
