Eat less and exercise more.
I know that sounds very simplistic, but it boils down to burning off more calories than you take in. If you want to follow a diet plan (such as weight watchers) then the particular diet you follow is up to you, but when I'm feeling a bit tubby (when my jeans won't do up!!!) I cut down my portion sizes, make sure I haven't slipped off my healthy(ish) diet - which is often the case - and I do more exercise. (Longer walks with the dog, a couple of extra runs a week etc.) The exercise is key for me as it is good for your overall health, but also it helps you burn more calories.
The only other thing you need is the willpower to stick to it, and that's where people (and I include myself) tend to have a problem.
Something which really helped me, is getting an understanding of how many calories are in food, and how much exercise it takes to burn the equivalent amount. For example, if I do 3 miles on my treadmill, (half mile walking warm up followed by two miles running @ 6mph, followed by half mile walking cool down) that burns approx 297 calories according to my treadmill. There are approx 280 calories in a mars bar. So, now when I look at a mars bar, I imagine doing my treadmill workout an extra time to burn it off, and I usually put the mars bar back on the shelf....0 -

Diet and exercise!!
It is easier said than done though!!
Paul Mckenna says "Diets Don't Work" - you have to change your habits!
Anybody will have their opinion/their way BUT calories in V Calories out. There may be tricks to speed up burning more calories, eating a certain way and the type of food which could even be down to the individual's tailoured plan. Really what works best and you can stick too!!
Good Luck!!0 -
Diets do not work (nore do hypnotists mind tricks long term
), government stats show 98% of diets fail after 2 years
3 Things
Cals in and Cals out, no matter what system you use you have to create a cal deficit
Lifestyle change, dont think about going on a diet, change how you live permanently, eat healthy whole foods, control the amount and get moving.
You need to log what you eat in a food diary, other wise your just guessing. If you cant be bothered to cal count (if your motivation is that bad your going to be in trouble anyway) then there are popular diet systems that use points or syns to make it easier
Unfortunately there is no magic bullet but you can do things to help, getting your insulin levels under control has a big impact on cravings and hunger. Reduce the amount of carbs you eat to about 1/3rd of your diet and where you can make sure there low GI carbs. Protein is an appetite suppressant so try to make sure you have some lean protein with every meal (it can also help resist muscle loss). Make sure you get the essential nutrients from healthy oils so eat some fish, nuts etc0 -
