Knock on the Door - What to Do - Help

My partner got herself into serious debt. She has used the CCCS for the last 3 years. I have now raised some money to clear her debts and proceeded to contact the companies for settlement figure.
All of them have been more than accomadating in reducing the balance and taking payment, with the exception of 1.
This was a loan with Nationwide, which is being handled by Moorcroft Debt Recovery.
I asked if they would reduce the amount, but they said as a payment had not been received from CCCS since May, this matter had now been put in the hands of the debt collectors. We dont know why CCCS have not paid it as everyone else has. But the issue was the Stroppy git on the end of the phone, who very obnoxiously said he didnt care as the debt collectors were coming to collect the outstanding.
As it is, my partner only lives with me, so I'm hoping they have no right to even come in the house.
But could someone advise me on the legalities of these people who are due to turn up.
And secondly, how can we try and avoid this, get a reduced settlement and call it a day with this debt.
We dont even know who the debt recovery company are as we have had no notification. (if moorcroft dont do it themselves)

Unless the people coming to your house are court appointed baliffs (which they wont be) then they have no rights whatsoever.
Just tell them to go away, and sort out repayment again with Moorcroft. Ignore the muppet on the phone and send them a letter offering your full and final settlement.0 -

BTW, if you visit the above website there should be a sample letter to allow you to send to your creditors, labelled something like "Full and Final Settlement Letter". Just thought this may help.0 -
If I'm not mistaken even a court appointed bailiff cannot enter your property without an invitation in the absence of a warrant. Beware though even opening a window to speak to them is considered an "invitation"Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

Moorecroft- my mates, no dount tootsie roll will behere soon defending them. they are scum, dont listen to them, they do not listen and are a bunch of idiots. They wont send anyone out, not at all... it costs them far too much, its all threat.
Just deal with the debt in your own way and ignore what they write/say to you.

I would also add that you're assuming that Moorcroft are telling you the truth, and that CCCS have suddenly stopped passing on your payments.
I feel this is unlikely to be the case...0 -

Have you spoken to CCCS to find out if the statement is correct?I am a debt counsellor working in the voluntary sector - we don't charge our clients for the work we do!0
