Removing doublesided tape from UPVC frames

I put the secondary glazing film up on my windows last year using the provided double-sided tape and when I took it down it left a sticky residue on the PVC frames. I tried using "Sticky stuff remover" but it hasn't worked. I left it as it wasn't noticeable but its now turned yellow and hard Any ideas?

Its a rented house and my attempt to scratch it off has resulted in me scratching or taking nicks out the frames so I can't be trying that again :eek:

I've had same problem and I found WD40 sprayed on, left on a few seconds and then scraped with the side of a knife works quite well. The WD40 sort of melts the yellow hard residue.
Make sure it's all well ventilated though as it's very smelly stuff!
