Not absolutely sure about this but i remember reading something like rubbing it with ash works, could be wrong though, i'd wait for the professionals on this board to back to you just in case i ruin your table for you . !!!0

You're right cullumpster. I think you're supposed to dampen some cigarette ash and rub it into the wood, i saw it on one of those 5 minute tips from the experts on the t.v. (i suppose any ash would suffice if you don't smoke - can't see the difference). The other thing they suggested was rubbing a walnut (but i tried this once and it was hopeless) but cigarette ash will help a bit as i tried that as well and it did seem to get some of the mark out.0

found this on google search for houshold tips:-
White Heat Marks and Water Rings on Wood Furniture: If the wood has a good finish (don't try on bare wood), mix equal parts of baking soda and regular white, non-gel toothpaste. Lightly dampen corner of a clean, soft white cloth with water and dip into the paste. With circular motion gently buff the marks for a few minutes. Wipe area clean, and buff to a shine. Follow with furniture polish. (If rings remain after buffing five minutes or so, they may have penetrated the wood; you might have to refinish the piece). If that doesn't work, dip a cloth in vegetable oil, then in cigarette ashes, then rub it over the mark. Another method is to rub real mayonnaise onto the stain, allow to sit overnight, then wipe with a dry towel.
Ive never tried these myself but it might be worth having a go"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye" - Miss Piggy0 -
I found that an equal amount of lemon juice and olive oil - rubbed gently into stain and then left for a few hours helps."This site is addictive!"

Also try dipping a damp cloth into some bicarb of soda and rubbing it gently into the mark. Wipe away the excess then polich as usual. It took away a very prominent cup mark from my highly polished wooden table. No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.0

My mother has a polished wooden sideboard that has a ring/water mark on it. It has been there for a good few years now and she has tried everything she can think of, coffee, ringaway, polishing madly etc.
Can you wonderful people suggest anything else?0 -
I believe that a Brazil nut cut in half and rubbed over the surface may do the trick. There are also many woodstains available and coloured wood polishes on the market which may do the trick if they are wiped across the surface and then wiped off quickly. Is it obvious I'm married to a furniture maker?!!
