Employer Unilaterally Reducing Salary- Big Bucks!

My employer has unilaterally reduced my salary by 5 figures p.a. as well as heaping other stuff on me which I won't go into . Fortunately, I have secured another job and leave soon. I will not have 12 months service in when I leave but have been told that, nevertheless, I can go to a tribunal and claim 2 weeks salary because of my employer's action in reducing my salary. I also suspect that my employer may try to avoid his commitments in terms of pay for holidays not taken. Can anyone tell me if I would have grounds for a tribunal for either or both of the salary and holiday pay issues, even though I will have under1 year's service?

It simply isn't that easy and whether you have a claim or not depends on all the circumstances (and on whether he does actually not pay for accrued holiday entitlment). And in order to make any valid claim you must have submitted a grievance to the employer.0 -
how can he have reduced your salary by 5 figures per annum if you have worked there less then 12 months

reduced it by 5 figures?
so say you were on £10,000,000 a year, you now on just £100 a year?
that's a whopping pay cut in anyone's book. shame you ain't a banker or an MPMartin has asked me to tell you I'm about to cut the cheese, pull my finger.0 -
I should also add that if you have agreed to this cut, and continuing to work for a month without disputing it is agreement (you posted a query about this matter a month ago), then you have no claim at all.0

So your employer has reduced your salary by a minimum of £10000 and the first place you go to is a forum like here?
And you have worked for your employer for less than a year?

Thanks for taking the trouble to respond, posters- I obviously did not explain things properly. My employer has reduced my salary by £10,000 per annum i.e £833.33 per month and July was the first month this was imposed. I have been asked to accept or reject a 12month contract taking effect from 1st July, even though I was taken on in January on a permanent basis with no probationary period. I have not accepted this contract offer as I have found a new job starting soon, although my employer doesn't yet know this. My employer has form in doing things like this and somebody needs to do something about it.I need to move on and concentrate on my new job but, if I can bring a tribunal case without this consuming large slabs of time and my attention, I would like to give my employer a bloody nose so that , hopefully, somebody else won't have to go through the absolute nightmare I had to endure. When I tell you that I am in my 60's, you can imagine the effect it had on me.0

Very little that you can do, I'm afraid. You have less than 12 months employment. You were offered a variation of contract (at best) from 1st July. Whether you signed it or not doesn't matter. You turned up to work for July so in law that is an acceptance. You could have refused to accept the new contract at the time, but the best you could have done was sue for notice pay on the old terms - if you had a claim for that, which is by no means certain as there isn't enough information to say. Not that it is relevant because it is now too late.
The only other thing you might have done would have been to officially (and in writing) serve notice that you were working under protest, and intended to bring a claim of brecah of contract. But you didn't do that either, and it is too late to do so now.
I am afraid that in law you are deemed to have accepted the new contract by continuing to work. Sorry.0 -
