Deductions from NRP IS

Can anyone help?

I am NRP on IS (as lone parent of 3 yr old).
Rec letter today from Job Centre to say £6.60 would be taken from my IS and paid to CSA (for older child who lives with ex).
Contacted CSA they say this shouldn't have happened as I have a dependant child at home with me.
Don't have much confidence in CSA can anyone confirm or deny?

Have tried looking at their website which is out of date - I am on old system.

The decision is made by the job centre when the CSA send a form to them asking if you are eligible to have deductions taken. You have to get onto the job centre ASAP and ask why they think you should be paying deductions when you have a dependant child at home.
  • Suprise - the job centre say that they don't make the decision and passed the buck back to CSA.
  • I was under the impression they take a fiver a week, or is that if you're on JSA?

if you are on CS1 and have a dependant child in your household your are exempt fron CTM (contribution to maintenance). Get back on to the CSA as you should not be paying anything,

  • After many long phone calls to CSA and JCP, an email and written complaint.
Finally rec a call yesterday to say that they had made an error, deductions will stop, I will be repaid and will rec £50 compensation.

The system is all so wrong, but at least my persistance has paid off.
