Anyone else still getting ID'd?

I don't know why but this really gets to me! I'm 28 and know I look much younger, but still get really upset when people mistake me for an 18 or even 21 year old. It's so embarassing in the supermarket or the pub when I have to get out my ID!
I try and dress in a fairly 'grown-up' way, at least when I'm at work, and always wear a bit of makeup (which helps a little) but still feel like I'm not always taken as seriously as I'd like to be.
I know lots of people wouldn't see this as a problem, but it seems to be happening more and more recently (maybe it's this Think 25 business and subsequent clamping-down by shops) and I just wondered if anyone else gets upset by it? Maybe I should just get over myself and enjoy the fact that I'll look 28 when I'm 40!

I'm 28 and can't remember the last time I was asked for ID
Although about 3 years ago not long after I bought my own home someone came to the door selling stuff and asked if my parents were home :rotfl:2022 wins include.... £1,000 cheque £150 ASDA gift card £250 Impericon gift voucher £100 cheque £100 of plant bulbs £100 Bower Collective voucher0 -
I'm 19 and often mistaken for 16-17 or even younger than that. I don't straighten my hair or wear makeup, fake tan etc. like a lot of girls do these days so I suppose that's why I look younger. Age restrictions are different everywhere though, I've got a friend who is currently facing charges at work for not asking from ID from someone younger than 25 (even though he was over 18 and legal to drink), as it turned out he was a mole* from Trading Standards ...
* in the metaphorical sense. Not an actual mole, they are blind and probably could not find their way into an off-license. Does anyone know the law on giving booze to an animal?0 -
Yes im 28 this year and 5ft tall.
And to be honest rarely look over 16 if that, I get asked ID for rizla's, tobacco, dvd's, red bull, razors...anything really, yes I did say redbull!
Im having baby 3 and at my latest scan i had a very nice but nosy lady comment 'awwww i remember my first..etc etc'
She looked disgusted when i said its my third0 -
I do get my ID checked occasionally (bar/ pubs/ when buying alcohol in supermarkets) but I see it as a compliment. I am in my early 30s and think it's flattering! i have nothing to hide, so am quite happy to show them my drivers licence! Hindsight is a wonderful thing...

Well my husband is 40 in October and just a few years back we had a caller come to our door and ask to speak to his "mum or dad" lol.
Needless to say he has never lived that one down lol .
We have a 17 year old and when she is out with her dad people assume that they are a couple lol . No one believes that she is with her dad .0 -
I've always somehow managed to look much younger than I am.
Several years ago my mum make some remark about me going to university and a random woman on the street commented, "oh is that you starting high school now?"
I'm 5ft 6, thirty years old and I sometimes get asked if I'm a half on the bus (UNDER 16!) and ALWAYS get asked for ID when buying alcohol.
Went to my mums friends 40th birthday a few months back and the barman laughed at me when I ordered a round of drinks and remarked, "I don't think so!" when I asked him what the problem was he said, "You are CLEARLY an under". I said "This man (next to me) is my husband, and here is my ID" he looked really sheepish and apologised."Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" You will gradually get to see it as a complement! I remember a friend of mine who looked young said to a supermarket checkout girl who questioned her 'Does an under aged drinker usually buy fresh pasta and a jar of pesto along with a bottle of wine'
My hubby often gets asked if he has a student card for concessions at the cinema and he's 35 - he loves it!We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
I just turned 35 and occassionally I still get asked, got asked in morrissons a few months ago. i could have hugged her!!!
The mums at school cant believe i am older than 25!!!!!
